Exhausted but happy

My mom, step-dad, brother and SIL were here for an entire week!  I am exhausted as we packed a-lot into a week but we had a blast.  We spent Friday at Mt Rainier and I have some amazing pictures I need to post.  We had a girls and a guys day out which was super fun.  We walked for 2 miles shopping so we really shopped til we dropped!  My mom bought a few things at Babies R Us and I really wanted to go wild but we haven’t even entered the waiting pool and are not selecting the sex.  However, I did find some really cool things at Babies R Us and some baby furniture that I REALLY liked at the Pottery Barn.  Wow, it is overwhelming all the baby things out there.

I have a post about privacy that I want to write in my head and we’ve just been crazy busy.  I hope to get that posted this weekend.

Peace Out -

Brain Overload

I am on brain overload right now.  Blogs are a wonderful thing and instead of working today, I have been surfing.  I’ve been reading blogs from first mom’s, AP’s – international and open, and crafty blogs!  I could spend all day and am wondering how I am going to balance everything – motherhood, of course the most importatnt, working, relationships and social life, blogging, reading my favorite blogs, volunteering, etc, etc.  How do you gals/guys do it?  I know how fortunate I am that I have a wonderful hubby that is willing to pitch in with everything.  I was talking about putting a chair in the pumpkin’s room so I didn’t wake him during the night and he corrected me saying that he won’t wake me either.  That’s why he’s my pumpkin :-) .

So, reading the blogs from first mom’s has got me thinking.  I have always said that the birth of our child will be one of the greatest days of our lives but probably the worst day for the first mom.  My heart aches for her already and I am not sure what I can do to comfort her when the time comes.  Our agency average is 11 months from the time you enter the pool but that’s just an average.  The expectant mom will actually choose us so it could be shorter….or….longer.

I just bought tickets to see Keith Anderson!!!  For those of you that don’t know, he’s a country artist and HOT HOT HOT!  Oh momma :-) .  Chris Young, who I think won Nashville Star, is his opening act.  Should be a fun night out.

Peace out -

Open Adoption – what does it mean

Wow, this is my very first post.  I’ve wanted to do a blog for a long time but haven’t put the time into it.  In case you are wondering about us – I am Lisa, my technically superior pumpkin hubby is Rick, Gracie girl is our Bichon/Yorkie, and Max is our stud Poodle/Bichon.  That makes four pumpkins and we have started the domestic adoption process for our fifth pumpkin.  Our agency is www.openadopt.org and they have been amazing so far.  We just finished our home study visits and hope to be in the waiting pool by the end of September!

Some of you may be wondering what an open adoption is all about.  First, the expectant mother actually chooses us and then we have a meeting and can decide if we are a right fit for each other.  Either party can go their separate ways or decide to get to know each other better.  At that time, we would be taken out of the waiting pool.  Our agency prefers the expectant mother to not choose a couple until she is 7 months along.  Our agency does a-lot of counseling to make sure she is ready to place her child up for adoption and that she understand that although the relationship is open we are the parents.  I originally had several concerns and some insecurities about open adoption but I have a better understanding now and what it means to our child.

The goal of the agency is to have a relationship where you feel like extended family and I hope that as well.  Will it be odd, at first?  Maybe.  Will there be ups and downs?  Yes but we will work through those issues unless, of course, they put our child in danger  – emotionally or physically.

Who am I?  I love to be with family and friends.  Laughter is so important and always makes me feel better.  I love silly movies that are made for 18 – 30 guys (The Hangover, SuperBad, Harold & Kumar, Super Troopers, etc), music especially country, and almost anything crafty.  I love to scrapbook with a bunch of girlfriends or make jewelry!

Thanks for dropping by.
